LITTLE WING GUY'S PROFILE

I may have little wings, but I have a big dick heart.

Hey there. I've been into game making since about 2008, but it wasn't until 2014 I was able to complete my first ever game! The game was started and finished in a single week for a contest. In one week I was able to do what I struggled with for 6 years. 6 WHOLE YEARS. HILARIOUS ISN'T IT.

BlueSkies 2 Review

Great review Hali, this really sums up a lot of my own thoughts of the game. I ended up accepting a lot of the flaws, and underneath it all is a really honest RPG Maker game - amateur in a charming way.

...And then Mary proceeds to walk off, going right up a wall and through the roof, lost to the realms of tileset passability forever.

RIP Mary.

Demo was pretty damn good, mate! + other words

Hi Giznads, thank you so much for spending the time to play this! I really appreciate your feedback, and I'm definitely going to take your feedback on board. A 7/10 just means I have space to grow and improve so I'm pretty pleased with that!

I'm not 100% sure on what you meant by "mmph". Do you mean that the battles are too easy, or just that they are not interesting? I developed Overflow to combat both people just mashing the attack command, and to promote taking control of the fight (as Overflow doesn't build when the AI takes over). I think that Overflow is introduced at a time where players can't really experiment with it BUT the option is there if they really want to. My hope is that players see it's usefulness as they game goes on and they have more AP to spend. I think my logic is there, by my execution is weak haha.

Ultimately I want to make a game people are going to enjoy and resonate with, so I'm always up for taking things back to the drawing board. I think I'm most pleased that you're interested in the story, I'm really passionate about telling it (it's been playing like a movie in my head for like 10 years haha) so reading your comments put a huge smile on my face. Thanks again, you're the best!

Any interest in a Summer Review drive?

I can definitely muster up at least one unnecessarily long review. I'm in.

Wahey - well done Dyhalto! Definitely deserved.

... Shame that I'm so irredeemably terrible at games like these I can't get past the first couple of stages. I shall persevere! I will review this game, one day...

By the way, how are you finding the difficulty level? If it seems too low, I actually just updated the download to a newer version 2.078 where it's tweaked up a little. Your current saves are fully compatible and can be copied over. It sounds like you're playing at a fast pace so I dunno if maybe it's not an issue for you, but lately I've been watching some players who are "fight everything / do everything" type of players, who got really strong, so the fights seemed to end up being a bit too easy for them.

I think the best way to answer your question is to say that it's not hard. It's certainly not too easy, but it has sort of a fake difficulty in that enemies (especially bosses) have a lot of HP. I haven't yet encountered a game over, and I've only used a handful of revival items. It's a pleasurable kind of difficulty, but I wouldn't mind it scaled up a little.

I do think Mages that have spells that damage all foes outweigh any other physical based character though. You also don't really mix up the troops very well, as in battles will only have one enemy copy pasted three times so there isn't much choice on who you focus on.

Woah nice! Compound skills? This looks pretty sophisticated, especially for 2k3!

Ah, well thank you! It's actually pretty basic but the "coding" involved was the RPG Maker equivalent of self harm. If anyone finds a major flaw or manages to break it, I think I'll probably implode.

In a weird coincidence this system isn't worlds apart from your skill system in Illarion 2 (albeit on a much smaller scale).

Hey LWG thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Yeah, the dialogue can sound a bit stiff at times, especially with the first few characters being generally more serious. At first, I was kind of supposed go with a more high fantasy/formal type of speech, but the game ended up more JRPG in every other aspect, so the dialogue sort of ended up somewhere in between, in a bit of no man's land.

As for their personalities, well... it's a complex issue but... let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if you don't sympathize with some actions of the main chars =)

Or if you just mean that their personality isn't fleshed out enough, then yeah it would've been more ideal if I could've spend a little more time with that too. I will say though that some more of their personalities can be seen through some flavor texts in talking with some NPCs.

I think it could be a combination of both honestly. As I said, the game has a really good flow to it, you're never in one area for too long and you're never stuck in some overly long cutscene - both good things!

I just think some of the character motivations, possible conflicts and interesting dynamic between personalities are sacrificed in that process. I was expecting that Moshran and Petranor were going to become rivals/enemies because when you look at their base ideals they shouldn't get along - it was really hard to see why they were friends in the first place. For all I know, maybe that does happen, as I'm only about 5 hours in now I think. At the moment everyone is sort of skipping along happily hoping for immortality (which if you've played a game like Lost Odyssey is actually a really scary and sad lifestyle).

I have spoken to a few NPCs, but after I realised NPCs with quests have an arrow on there head AND you can't go inside buildings I think my interest of exploring towns sort of vanished. Anyway, please don't take any of this to heart - as someone who briefly played the original Legends of Illarion, you have improved leaps and bounds and you should be proud of yourself for making and finishing this game.

Legends Of Illarion 2: Sins Of The Gods

I'm quite enjoying this game, much more than I thought I would. I'm about three hours in now and I'm definitely going to continue.

The dialogue can be very unnatural and direct at times, which I generally dislike however it does mean the games pace is incredibly fast, and that's probably it's greatest strength. There's plenty of character customisation, and exploration is rewarded well. Game play wise, it's enjoyable and there's enough content to sink your teeth into.

Still, I wish I liked the story and characters a little more, there's glimpses of personality but I almost feel like you're not bothered whether we like the characters or not sometimes. I also wish towns where a little more fleshed out, you can't go into any buildings apart from shops which is a minor shame.

BlueSkies 2

So I sat down and played this for about an hour last night, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it or not, but I've seen it pop up quite a lot.

It does feel a little slow in the beginning, and some of the dialogue is a little childish for my personal taste but I actually really love the honest, RPG Maker feel this game has. I don't think I'm going to explain this very well, but I think it captures the spirit of an RPG Maker game and it feels like a passion project that kept your vision.

The battle system is really dynamic to watch too, I do think the voices are overkill though.
